This gown is a long-sleeve column in shimmering gold and silver lurex knit. Timeless, flattering, and undeniably glamorous. But the collar is the revelation: a sweeping, fan-shaped pectoral collar in the tradition of ancient Egyptian jeweled usekh necklaces, beaded with large turquoise cabochon stones, rows of coral seed beads, and intricate gold metallic beadwork.
Egyptian Revival was having a cultural moment in early 1970s fashion fueled by the global Tutankhamun exhibition fever and Dupuis leaned into it with conviction. The result is a gown that feels simultaneously ancient and utterly modern.
